ABOUT ALEJANDRO RABAZO
Alejandro Rabazo was born in the city of Plasencia,
located in the northern part of the Extremadura region
of western-central Spain, and emigrated to Canada in 1960.
As a cartographer-artist for the Ministry of Natural Resources, Toronto, he specialized in the production of historical maps with illustrations in watercolour, being the most important the “Historical Map of Ontario”,
1984 and “Ship Wrecks and Sunken Treasures of the Caribbean”.
Another important endeavor was architectural illustrations and perspectives for large projects for Olympia & York Developments Ltd., such as First Canadian Place (Toronto), Battery Park (New York) and Canary Wharf in London, England. This would later on inspire the series "Views of Toronto".
In May 2002 he was selected as a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) founded in 1925 by some of the most illustrious artists in Canadian art history. During these years as an artist he was awarded numerous prizes with different Toronto art groups, being the most important the three GOLD MEDALS PRIZE at the Toronto Watercolour Society in 2006, 2009 and 2011. He was also a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Toronto Watercolour Society.
